Agencies, San Isabel to host wildfire workshop

Learn how to protect your home and property at a community wildfire workshop hosted by local, state and federal officials.

The free workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District office, 215 Fourth St. in Westcliffe. 

At the workshop, you will:

  • Explore the relationship between forest health, property management and wildfire.
  • Learn best practices for protecting your property and creating safety and evacuation plans.
  • Learn about federal and state programs to assist landowners.
  • Hear how local landowners are creating community wildfire protection plans to maximize their impact and leverage resources.

Workshop partners are the Custer County Office of Emergency Management, Wet Mountain Fire Protection District, Custer County Conservation District, Colorado State University Extension, Colorado State Forest Service, the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and San Isabel Land Protection Trust.
