Mark Brockman

Mark Brockman has been a fine artist for more than 45 years, working in various media. His subject matter is more often the landscape and those things found in the landscape, but he has recently started to work with the figure as well.

Aside from sketches in pencil, charcoal or Sharpie pen, he works in pastel and watercolor for his finished work. He works in a representational style, though the paintings can be very realistic to nearly abstract and anywhere in between. Mark says, “Just as I do not like to work in only one medium, I do not like being held to just one style or technique to create a painting. My mood and the mood of the subject influence my approach.”

Mark has participated in numerous one-man, group and invitational shows up and down the East Coast. He moved to Colorado in the fall of 2016 and has participated in many shows and won awards. Recent shows and selected awards are Stampede Western Art Exhibition, 2019; Coors Western Art Show, 2019 and 2018; Mile High Pastel Exhibition, 2019, 2018 and 2017; Pastel Magazine, Honorable Mention, 2016 and 2018; Pastel Society of New Mexico National Exhibition, Second Place, 2019; and PSOC Online Horizon Show, Best of Show.

“I find the Colorado and western landscape to be extremely inspiring and look forward to many more years of capturing it,” Mark says.
