ShuShu Clark

Growing up in the South, ShuShu Clark began her art adventure at an early age, attending Saturday morning classes at the Atlanta High Museum of Art. She went on to study Graphic Design at Auburn University, then graduated with a BFA from the University of Alabama. After college, ShuShu entered the world of advertising, where she landed at a major agency in Los Angeles. In 1993, she was recruited by the Walt Disney Studio as a top creative and marketing executive and ended up staying for 20 magical years.

The day she retired from Disney in 2010, ShuShu started oil painting classes. After years of rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest artists in the world, she was eager to get her hands back on the brush. ShuShu’s plan was to spend her retirement in Westcliffe, reveling in the peaceful lifestyle and spectacular scenery,  painting what she saw. And she is still inspired by the never-ending show of color and character found there.

But the real bounty came when she spotted an ad for an art workshop with the internationally acclaimed artist, Gerald Merfeld. For the past nine years, Gerald has tirelessly and generously shared his world-class talent and experience with ShuShu and a small group of other passionate artists.

ShuShu was awarded Best of Show at the Sangre Art Guild’s  2019 Alla Prima Westcliffe Show. Her win brought her an invitation to Art for the Sangres. She serves as the Art Guild’s president.

  • “We are situated along the Gold Belt National Scenic Byway, where several land trust organizations are involved with protection of lands. San Isabel was extremely well informed. We, and our neighbors, are very pleased with the end result, and the annual monitoring process is unobtrusive. I wish more folks would take the time to learn about the benefits San Isabel offers.”
