Valda Terauds discusses fractured rock wells on KLZR's 'Valley Views'

Valda Terauds, staff hydrologist at San Isabel Land Protection Trust, talks about fractured rock aquifers and how wells may behave in these areas in a “Valley Views” interview with KLZR’s Gary Taylor. The interview will air on 91.7 FM after the news at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, and Thursday, Oct. 17, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

Valda also discusses with Gary an upcoming community meeting on wells and groundwater in the fractured rock areas of Custer and Fremont counties. The meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the community room at Cliff Lanes, 25 Main St., Westcliffe.

All well owners are welcome to the Oct. 22 meeting, which is free and open to the public. The presentation will be especially helpful to those who live in Bull Domingo, Cody Park, Conquistador Estates, Silver Cliff Heights, Silver Cliff Ranch, Dora Mountain Vistas or the Lake DeWeese area.

  • “Because San Isabel is pro-agriculture, we were able to work closely with them to craft the contract we felt comfortable with. It allows us to capture revenue off the land while still living on it and maintaining full autonomy of ownership.”
