Help plan the Bluff's future

Anyone heading west on Main Street enjoys iconic views of the majestic Sangres and the pastoral beauty of the valley floor. It’s no accident the views are there for you to enjoy.

The Bluff is the culmination of years of community work to bring residents and visitors together to celebrate, learn about and enhance our valley’s recreational, cultural and natural resources. The 10-acre Bluff consists of Summit Park, owned by the town of Westcliffe, and Bluff Park, owned by San Isabel Land Protection Trust and protected by a conservation easement with Colorado Open Lands.

To continue the legacy of community involvement in shaping and shepherding the Bluff, the Bluff Park Committee on Jan. 23 will hold the second in a series of open meetings. The effort will culminate this spring in a comprehensive, long-range plan that adds value to the community through strategic management of the Bluff.  

The upcoming meeting will review public input gathered at the October 2019 Open Park event, as well through the online survey. (You can still participate; just click the link below.) We will have short presentations on opportunities and constraints on park operations and begin to refine management options through a facilitated discussion.

This is your chance to weigh in on topics that have been brought forward already, such as event use of the site, landscaping choices, turf maintenance, trails and outdoor recreation, youth education and fitness, signage, parking and family-friendly facilities. Or tell us what’s on your mind to add to the discussion.

Please join the Bluff Park Committee (CART, Dark Skies, San Isabel Land Protection Trust, Stermer Family Investments and the town of Westcliffe) from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in the Community Room at Cliff Lanes.
