Online auction of fine art, more ends Sunday

Fine art and fun experiences mark the San Isabel Land Protection Trust’s 2021 online auction to support conservation in southern Colorado.

The auction starts at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, and continues through 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22. It features nine outstanding artists, whose talents and hearts capture the essence of our magnificent landscapes and way of life. This year, we’ve added special experiences unique to the region we're sure you'll enjoy. Together, they connect us to our rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes.

Early this year, concerns about the continuing pandemic resulted in the decision not to hold an in-person 2021 Art for the Sangres. The annual fine art sale has long been San Isabel’s largest fundraiser. We looked for innovative ways to continue that tradition while keeping our community safe. Our 2021 online auction fits that bill.

After the online auction opens Saturday, visit SanisabelAuction2021 to view the more than three dozen items offered. Bidding is easy and can be done on your computer or smartphone, wherever you are.

The fine art available in the auction includes oil paintings, pencil, photography, woodworking, jewelry, pyrography and bronze sculpture. Our presenting artists are Julie Bender, Curt Gilliespie, Felicia, Andy Mast, Doug Schneiter, Greg Smith, Cheryl St. John, Cheryl Swartz and Sarah Woods.

The special experiences include a botanical tour through the valley, music, theater, downhill skiing, a High Country garden tour, a Dark Skies vacation, as well as grass-fed and -finished beef and a ranch operations tour from one of the most innovative, sustainable ranches in our region.

Thanks to our donors: Darkskies Vacations/Rancho Bendito, H.G. Vickerman Ranch, High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival, High Peaks Music Festival, KLZR Radio, Monarch Mountain, Taste of the Valley, Taylor-Oswald Ranch, Westcliffe Performing Arts Center/Jones Theater and Dianne Whalen.
