Long House Shadows
Price: 0.00 USD

Many of the works by artist Rock Newcomb include subjects the audience may never have encountered personally due to their rarity and inaccessibility. Painting primarily with acrylics, he uses techniques previously acquired while using oils and watercolors. He paints layer upon layer of thin glazes to achieve a glow and depth seldom seen in this medium.

Subjects include Western artifacts – historic and prehistoric; Native Americans and cowboys; various still life; landscapes; and wildlife.

Rock has shown at varied establishments, galleries and shows, including The Smithsonian Institute in Washington; Prix de West, National Cowboy Museum, Oklahoma City; Buffalo Bill Art Show, Cody, WY; and Night of Artists, Briscoe Western Art Museum, San Antonio. He recently had a solo show at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA.

Rock participated in a PBS Television series, “The Artists Workshop,” featuring his painting and drawing techniques. He has been featured in numerous magazines, including Southwest Art, Art of the West, Western Art Collector, International Artist and Artists Magazine.

Gallery representation: Legacy Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ; Huey’s Fine Art, Santa Fe; and Astoria Fine Art, Jackson, WY.
