Cheryl Swartz began studying fine metals and jewelry at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art education.

Cheryl began her career as an art teacher in the public schools and eventually devoting her artistic pursuits to designing and making jewelry in gold, silver and gemstones.

Her artwork at Art for the Sangres is locally inspired. Her "Dark Sky" theme features gold mountains beyond the valley, from the vantage point of The Bluff. The sky is silver with a black patina. The celestial bodies are various gemstones including pearls, moonstones, rubies, white sapphires and diamonds. Some pieces are less literal and more abstract, but yet have the same feel and theme. This year, in addition to “Dark Sky,” Cheryl will introduce a new theme, “Aspen Gold.”

Cheryl’s work is sold at several galleries and in her studio-workshop in Westcliffe, where she now lives.
