Thanks for two incredible evenings of fine art and delicious food at our 20th Anniversary Art for the Sangres at A Painted View Ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado.
More than $170,000 in artwork was sold Sept. 23 and 24. Forty percent of all sales goes to San Isabel to benefit our conservation efforts. Event profits help us to further our mission of land and water protection at this time of great change in Colorado.
2016 Presenting Artists
Nancy & Mark Hargis
2016 Featured Artist: Rock Newcomb
Rock Newcomb developed a love of nature and the natural world while growing up on a ranch in southern Idaho. He began drawing at age 5 and went on to receive advanced degrees in art as an adult and taught art prior to becoming a full-time fine artist. Rock now lives in Arizona and paints southwest still life’s, landscapes, and wildlife.
Rock paints with acrylics on a very smooth surface called clayboard which allows him the fine detail he achieves in his work. His subjects have recently been narrowed to two central themes: historical and prehistorical artifacts or wildlife. Most still life paintings of artifacts are accompanied by a statement of history and context, giving Rock’s work even more interest and depth. His work can be found in several fine galleries, invitational juried exhibits and private collections. He is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, Wildlife Artists Associates, and International Society of Acrylic Painters.
